Ray Eades is one of the longest serving plot holders in the Kingston borough, having held an allotment on Tolworth Main for over 30 years. As well as sharing an insight into his own personal motivation and the enjoyment he gets from allotment gardening, Ray also spoke to SHEDx about the changes he’s witnessed on the site over the years which reflect the increased diversity of wider society.
“I did a quick check and I identified 17 different nationalities on the allotment site. That would have been unheard of 40 years ago.”
