MARTIN URSELL

Over 20 years on the Tolworth Main allotment site Martin Ursell has witnessed many changes - from the development of the Millennium Green to the broadening of his own palette through exotic vegetables introduced to him by neighbouring plot holders.

“They started off with something called yau mak choi from Taiwan - it’s absolutely delicious. It’s a wheat derivative that looks a little bit like a long narrow spinach. I would say a third of the allotment holders are growing it now.”
